Context: Professional teacher on the itinerant vessel Logos Hope (check out http://omships.org) teaching a small class (4-6 students) of primary/elementary school students who live onboard with their parents for a year or more.
Requirements:
1. This is a volunteer position - all staff raise finances to cover their living costs onboard the ship - living onboard for 1 to 2 years rather than receiving a salary.
2. OM is a Christian organization and the successful candidate must have a track record of personal involvement in a local Christian community.
3. Current professional qualification in teaching
4. Fluent in English and able to teach in English.
5. Flexibility to teach a variety of classes.
6. Passionate and dedicated teacher willing to care for each student in a small class context.
7. Flexibility and a commitment to teamwork.
Specifics:
1. Plan and deliver learning opportunities for mixed-aged groups of students (3-11 yrs of age) based on the UK Early Years and National Curriculum Schools of Work.
2. You will be part of a small team of teachers (teaching other classes) under the leadership of an experienced Head Teacher.
Opportunities:
1. Both you and your students will live in a cross-cultural community and experience a variety of cultures as the ship travels from country to country.
2. You will have opportunity to engage in the local communities the ship visits through community service projects and engagement with local churches.
3. You will be a member of the onboard community, receiving regular Christian input for your spiritual growth.
4. You will live in a close cross-cultural community of 300-400 volunteer staff.
